E-mail Not Working in Microsoft® Outlook®

Authentication failure

To fix the issue, you need to check if you have typed in the correct e-mail address and password. Sometimes you change your e-mail password with your Internet service provider or on the webmail and you forget to update the new password in Microsoft Outlook. Authentication problem also occurs if there is any outage in the e-mail server. So, if you get the authentication error even after typing the correct user name and password, you could contact your Internet service provider.

Unable to send/ receive e-mails

You need to configure the incoming and outgoing mail server settings in Microsoft Outlook while you set it up. The server settings would include the name of the incoming and outgoing server, server port numbers, authentication settings etc. If any of this information is left out or typed wrongly, you would not be able to send and receive e-mails. So, make sure that mail server settings are configured properly and ensure that you are connected to the Internet. You could delete and re-create the e-mail account in Microsoft Outlook, if necessary. You would not be able to send e-mail, if the senders e-mail address is mistyped.

Unable to send/receive attachments

Microsoft Outlook allows you to send e-mails with attachments. At times, you might not be able to send large attachments. This issue could occur if your Internet service provider has limited the file size that you could send. Your antivirus program could block the e-mails with attachment. To fix this issue, disable the e-mail scanning option in the antivirus program or contact your Internet service provider to check the file size limit that you are allowed to send. Receiving e-mails with attachment would be disrupted if your Internet connection is slow. So, check the Internet connection to fix this issue.
