Do you want to know the common issues while setting up multiple e-mail accounts on Microsoft Outlook 2003 and how to fix them? Read on
E-mail messages are widely used by almost all computer users. You can send e-mail messages to anyone and the message is delivered and received in seconds. Once you register an e-mail address on any e-mail domain, you can log in to a webmail and check your e-mails from anywhere in the world, if you have an Internet connection. To avoid the hassle of logging in to the webmail each time, you want to check your e-mails, you can set up Microsoft Outlook on your computer. Microsoft Outlook is one of the popular e-mail clients which enhance your e-mailing experience. Once you configure the Microsoft Outlook you do not have to log in to the webmail to check your e-mails; you just need to open the Microsoft Outlook and start sending and receiving e-mails. You can read downloaded e-mails in Microsoft Outlook if you are offline. There may be more than one user on your computer who uses e-mail accounts. In such a case you can setup multiple e-mail accounts and allow other users in the computer to manage their e-mails through Microsoft Outlook. Once you configure multiple e-mail account, you will be prompted to select a profile, when you try to open outlook. You can select a user profile you want to work with and all the e-mails under that user profile will be displayed.
Following are some problems that may come up while setting up multiple e-mail accounts on Microsoft Outlook 2003 and how to fix them:
- Profile creation issues
- Server settings
- Send and receive errors
Profile creation issues
A user profile is created for each e-mail user. You need to go to control panel and select the mail tab and add each user profile. You may get an error while creating user profile, if the user profile already exists. You can view all the profiles in the mail tab. So, select a unique name for the profile and a secure password for the profile. When you open Microsoft Outlook, you will be prompted to enter a password and if the password is not entered correctly, you will not be allowed access to check your e-mails.
After a successful profile creation, you can click on the e-mail set up tab and follow the wizard to configure the e-mail account. You will be prompted to type in the incoming and outgoing e-mail server addresses, port numbers and other server settings. After typing in all the information, you can click on test account and this process will try to connect to the e-mail server and if any information is entered wrong, the test will fail and you get an error message. So, make sure that all the information that you entered is valid. To avoid or fix such errors, you need to input correct information while setting up the account.
After setting up the user profile, you may be able to send and receive e-mails through one user account but sending/ receiving can fail on the other account. This issue normally happens, when the e-mail server settings are not configured for the faulty user account or the server information is entered incorrectly. You need to enter the server details for each e-mail account even if you use same e-mail server for all the accounts. If e-mail server set up is left out for any user account, you will not be able to send and receive e-mails through that e-mail account.
