Microsoft Outlook 2010: Eliminate the deleted item space in Windows 7
Microsoft Outlook 2010 is an excellent application that you can use to take care of all your e-mailing tasks. However, if there are a large number of e-mails (in the various folders) clogging the hard disk space, you may want to remove the redundant mails to free up some space. Simply sending the mails to reside in the Deleted folder will not help matters, as, after all this folder too is in the hard disk only. Therefore, as a permanent fix you will have to attempt eliminating the deleted item space.
If you are a Windows 7 user, this is what you can do:
1. Open Microsoft Outlook
2. On the File menu, click on “Account Settings
3. On the “Data Files tab, click to select your “Personal Folder, and then click “Settings
4. On the “General tab, click “Compact Now
5. Click “OK and then click “Close
This will remove the deleted item space in your Microsoft Outlook 2010. Now that you will have more space on your hard disk, you can better enjoy the functionalities available in your e-mail application and carry on with your tasks without an issue.
