Windows® Live Mail Address Book
Importing and exporting data from Address Book in Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail is an e-mail client from Microsoft’s Windows Live set of products. Multiple e-mail accounts, calendars, etc. are brought together in Windows Live Mail. It provides maximum e-mail security and it accesses and edits e-mail and calendar events even during offline mode. The lineaments of Windows Live Mail include Windows Live Messenger, Mail Writer, Photo Gallery, Family Safety, Toolbar, and Movie Maker. The address book is the place where the Windows store entire contact information for easy retrieval from programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft NetMeeting, and Microsoft Phone System. However, it is not included in Windows 7. You can also manage your contacts by installing a third-party software or by using free solutions from Windows Live. For creating an address book, you must add data from Windows Live Mail, import data into Windows Live Mail, and export data from Windows Live Mail.
Following describes how to add, import, and export data from address book in Windows Live Mail:
- Adding data to address book through Windows Live Mail
- Importing data into Windows Live Mail
- Exporting data from Windows Live Mail
Adding data to address book through Windows Live Mail
The address book is created to add contacts in Windows Live Mail. Once added, you can view information about the person added. Apart from full contact management for Windows Live Mail user address book, the Windows Live API provides a view to subset the contact data for sending invitations. If anyone in the contacts list updates any information, it will be updated in Windows Live as well; hence it can be viewed by you. However each view and set of abilities is controlled by the owner of data, i.e., Windows Live User who maintains the address book through products and application in Windows Live. So, to gain access to information, the user should ask the owner permission, which is the consent token consisting of DAT and location ID. The user can accept or decline the request after signing in Windows Live.
Importing data into Windows Live Mail
In Windows Live Mail, you can import your e-mail, contacts and calendar from Outlook Express. With Windows Live Mail, you can access all your information from any computer with Internet connection. Firstly, upgrade your computer to Windows 7. After upgrading, if you have your e-mail and contacts on it or if you have removed all data before upgrading, and installed Windows Live Mail, you can import data into Windows Live Mail. To import calendar from a program into Windows Live, you should sign up to Windows Live ID. While logging in, your online calendar will automatically sync with your Windows Live Mail.
Apart from storing the data in the Address Book, you can convert your contacts to other formats by exporting them. Exporting contacts from Windows Live mail is done through 'Windows Live Contacts'. Exporting is very useful when we use another e-mail for some purpose and do not wish to create all Windows Live Mail contacts from scratch in the other e-mail client.
