Facebook® acquires e-mail prioritizing tool MailRank™

Social networking giant – Facebook has taken over e-mail prioritizing start-up MailRank and has also hired the co-founders to join Facebook and work for them.

We all are familiar with the Priority e-mail feature of Gmail and how it helps us in identifying the most important e-mails. This feature not only prevents the inbox from getting overburdened, but also helps you to focus on the important mails that require quick attention. The same feature is incorporated as well as offered by many e-mail service providers.

Well, the news is about one start-up – MailRank, which primarily focuses on prioritizing e-mails for the users. By doing so, MailRank helps the users to focus on content that needs immediate attention.

The twist in the tale is that the one and only social networking giant, Facebookhas acquired this e-mail prioritizing tool named MailRank. What’s more, Facebook has also hired the co-founders of the start-up – Bethanye McKinney Blout and Bryan o’Sullivan, who will be dissolving MailRank and will join Facebook in December.

“We’re thrilled to announce that MailRank co-founders will be joining Facebook in December,” a MailRank spokesperson said in a statement.

“The past year has been a wonderful journey, and we thank everyone who has helped and supported us along the way: our test users, investors, advisors, friends, and families. You have our sincerest gratitude. Now off to a new adventure!” he further added.

The co-founder duo will be working with a first-class team at Facebook, resolving the issues related to certain technical problems. The detailed information regarding their work at Facebook was however not provided. The financial terms of the deal too have not been shared with the media.

“We’re happy to confirm that we’ve hired Bryan O’Sullivan and Bethanye Blount, the co-founders of MailRank,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement, “Both have stellar track records as engineers and entrepreneurs, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them to Facebook in December.”
