Mirror Mirror on the wall, is Gmail® the powerful of all?
It’s been just five years that Gmail has been around and we are addicted to it as if it’s been around for ages. Our day starts from official e-mails on our Gmail account and ends with its Gtalk option. With the extensive features it comprises, Gmail has become a powerful tool as well as a part and parcel of our lives. Most people agree that Gmail is the best e-mail service ever.
The fully equipped e-mail service has come of age so much so that it is now challenging Microsoft Exchange Online as well as many other online e-mail services. By posing a competition, Gmail has finally become a threat to Microsoft.
"The road to its enterprise enlightenment has been long and bumpy, but Gmail should now be considered a mainstream cloud e-mail supplier," said Matthew Cain, Research Vice President at Gartner.
Garter announced the same at the summit held in London and also stated that Gmail has been growing ever since its inception by leaps and bounds with more than 5,000 major business contracts.
Microsoft has also come up with Microsoft Office 365–-the cloud based version of its well known exchange e-mail server. It is a well planned strategy to gain the lead since everyone knows that cloud-based e-mail is more secure as compared to the traditional e-mail service.
Gartner further added: "While Gmail's enterprise e-mail market share currently hovers around one percent; it has close to half of the market for enterprise cloud email.”
The competition will go on and on but the users won't be affected so much since all they look for is a well-equipped e-mail service.
