Hotmail™ celebrates its 15th birthday in style, announces new features
Addition of eight new features to make Hotmail faster and more secure than ever before.
Microsoft e-mail service, Hotmail, has chosen the occasion of its 15th birthday to release a list of new features for its users. The features, it claims, will not only provide better security, but also make the e-mail service more responsive and quicker.
Speaking on the recent developments, Hotmail Group Program Manager, Dick Craddock said that the list includes eight batches of new features. Important among them are:
- Microsoft Outlook-style Calendar
- The option to search for specific e-mail messages
He commented that Hotmail doesn’t want to keep seating on its past laurels, but is more interested in emulating them. The 15th anniversary is a kind of a rebirth for Hotmail which is getting started all over again to take on new challenges, he added. Hotmail came into existence on July 4, 1996.
Apart from the mentioned features, other enhancements that you can look out for in Hotmail are:
- Security updates like the single-use codes that can be used while signing in from an unsecured location
- ‘Senders’ icon to check the safety aspect of e-mails.
Hotmail in its new avatar will have additional sub-folders and will be able to send attachments up to 25 MB and more Active Views. There is also additional support for videos and shipping notifications.
Exchange ActiveSync has been enabled so that you can sync e-mails, calendar, and contacts to your Smartphone. You can enjoy this feature irrespective of the type of Smartphone, be it Windows Phone, iPhone, or Android phone, you are using. With regards to the mobile browser, you get a mobile version of Hotmail Calendar service.
