What prevents Microsoft Outlook from showing pictures?

Sometimes you might be faced with the issue of Microsoft Outlook 2007 failing to show images or pictures. There are many reasons for this issue. But the main reason is related to security. The blocking of automatic picture downloads is a security feature Microsoft Outlook 2007 that is turned on by default. When this feature is active, Microsoft Outlook 2007 restores pictures entrenched in messages with a red ‘x’ placeholder. You can turn off picture blocking messages by permitting automatic picture downloads for all e-mail with implanted pictures. When you turn off this blocking feature, you can download and view pictures in messages.

Reasons why Microsoft Outlook 2007 does not display pictures or images, ways to resolve this problem:

  • Allow Automatic Picture Download by E-mail
  • Allow Automatic Picture Downloads for all Inbound E-mail
  • Allow Automatic Picture Downloads by Sender

Allow Automatic Picture Download by E-mail
First, open Microsoft Outlook 2007 and locate and double-click the message you want to view in your ‘Inbox’ messages list. Then press the ‘Info Bar’ above the ‘From’ line which says ‘Click here to download pictures’. For protecting your privacy, Microsoft Outlook 2007 blocks automatic download of some pictures in messages. Otherwise, you can keep right-clicking each picture to download with no results.

Allow Automatic Picture Downloads for all Inbound E-mail
You need to open Microsoft Outlook 2007 and press ‘Tools’ at the top menu bar, next click ‘Options’. Press the Security tab and press ‘Change Automatic Download Settings’ button under ‘Download Pictures’. Then press, “Don’t download pictures or other content involuntarily in HTML e-mail” check box. After that, press ‘Ok’ for closing ‘Automatic Picture Download Settings’ window. Then press ‘Ok’ to close the ‘Options’ window.

Allow Automatic Picture Downloads by Sender
You first step is to open Microsoft Outlook 2007. Then find and double-click the message with pictures you need to view in your ‘Inbox’ messages list. Then right-click on one of the blocked pictures present in the message body. Choose ‘Add Sender to Safe Senders List’ to facilitate automatic picture downloads for every message sent from that sender. Or, you can choose ‘Add the Domain @ to Safe Senders List’ to permit automatic picture downloads for all the messages from all senders with the same domain name.

Five days back I was waiting for one important mail from a client who attached few images about an important project. But Microsoft Outlook was not showing the picture and I wasted two hours in correcting the issue. Finally I asked my client to send me the details on another mail. Now, I was looking for the information to know why it happened, luckily I landed at this article. I have corrected the problem now and even bookmarked your website to refer to these articles time-to-time.
