Microsoft® Outlook Failed To Send E-mails
What are the reasons due to which Microsoft Outlook fails to send e-mails and the ways to fix them?
Outlook is an e-mail client from Microsoft. It has options for adding new accounts, sending/receiving e-mails, adding special folders, etc. It allows the users to easily integrate their existing e-mail accounts by importing e-mails and contacts from other e-mail clients. Users can easily add multiple accounts to Microsoft Outlook thus allowing them to access the accounts from a single window. It offers useful and vast usability options like adding Calendar, Reminder, Tasks, etc. Other enhanced features of Microsoft Outlook include AutoComplete Addressing, AutoArchive, etc. The AutoArchive feature of Outlook helps the users to automatically move an e-mail from Mailboxes to Outlook Data File.
Discussed below are some errors that are caused while sending e-mails and the methods by which they can be resolved:
- Connectivity issues
- Incorrect settings
- Wrong protocol
Microsoft Outlook at times may throw some errors while trying to send e-mails. One of the main reasons behind which you can’t send an e-mail is due to the non-availability of an Internet connection. In order to resume the Internet connection, check whether your router/modem is functioning properly, and check whether the cable is plugged properly at both ends. If your router is working fine, but the problem still persists, contact your ISP for further troubleshooting the Internet connectivity problems.
You may also face errors with Microsoft Outlook due to incorrect settings configured with the current profile. In order to fix this issue, try creating a new profile. Click ‘Start’ menu and open ‘Control Panel’. Open ‘User Accounts’ and then select ‘Mail’. A dialog box appears entitled as 'Mail Set-up'. Click ‘Show Profiles’ and click on ‘Add’. This will initiate the ‘New Profile’ wizard. Provide appropriate personal details and select the checkbox near 'Manually configure server settings' and then click ‘Next’. In the ‘Choose Service’ page select ‘Internet E-mail’ and again click ‘Next’. Provide your Internet settings and ensure that POP3 is set as the ‘Account Type’. Click ‘Next’ and ‘Finish’. The new profile is now created with default settings.
Microsoft Outlook won’t allow you to send e-mails if wrong protocols are selected as the default protocol. Usually TCP/IP is the default protocol used by most of the users. To change the protocol settings, click ‘Start’ and then select ‘Run’. Type 'ncpa.cpl' and press ‘Enter’ key. This will open a new window entitled by 'Network Connections'. Right-click on your connection and select ‘Properties’. Select the ‘General’ tab and check the checkbox near 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' is selected. Click ‘OK’ and click on the ‘Yes’ button if a restart prompt message is displayed. After you reboot your computer, you will be able to send e-mails as before.
