Locating PermissionsTab in Outlook
An application that gives you the authority to let a certain group access your Outlook Today account is known as the ‘Permissions’ tab. It allows you to set appropriate permissions for your calendars, tasks, inbox, contacts, notes, folders, and journals, to be visible the way you want, within your exchange group. It is very useful in organizations where sharing information with delegates is necessary, but it is equally important to have control on how they can access the folders. However, in case where the ‘Permissions’ tab is missing, you will not be able to share or delegate tasks within your exchange group. You will also not be able to share your calendar, inbox, or other folders, making it difficult to communicate.
Here are some simple steps to locate the ‘Permissions’ tab for various features, which can help you to optimize this application:
- Setting ‘Permissions’ for your Outlook Today exchange account
- Setting ‘Permissions’ for calendars
- Setting ‘Permissions’ for folders
Setting ‘Permissions’ for your Outlook Today exchange account
To set the ‘Permissions’ tab for your Outlook Today exchange account, it is important that you have permissions yourself. When your account is created, a mailbox is also created along with it which automatically allows you to set permissions for others. First, set your mailbox profile to the ‘Owner’ permission by choosing 'Tools', and then through ‘Option’, click on the ‘Delegate’ tab to create a list. Add people from within your workplace to this list, and then set permissions accordingly. As a reviewer you can only read items; as an author you can read and create them; while as an editor you can read, create, and also modify content.
Setting ‘Permissions’ for Calendars
By setting ‘Permissions’ for your calendar, you can control who can see the appointments or meetings set by you. To do this, select ‘Calendar’ on the left side of the Outlook window and click ‘My Calendars’ to view the list of all recent calendars. Then, right-click the name of the calendar you want to edit and select ‘Properties’. After this, select the ‘Permissions’ tab.
Setting ‘Permissions’ for Folders
The ‘Permissions’ tab is set for shared folders to restrict access to the folder over a network. If you want to share a folder and set permissions for doing so, then start by right-clicking the folder you want to share. Select ‘Properties’ from the shortcut menu and then click the ‘Sharing’ tab. It is here that you will create a ‘Share’ name box, which the users will use to access this folder. In the description box, enter any other information, and, finally, in the ‘User Limit’ section, where ‘Maximum’ is default, set the user limit.
