Tips to fix pst error message in Microsoft® Outlook

Following are the tips to solve the issue of error message that appears while opening personal folder file in Microsoft Outlook:
- Run the "2 GB Truncation" Tool
- Run the Inbox Repair Tool
- Open the Repaired File in Microsoft Outlook
Run the "2 GB Truncation" Tool
Click Start and choose Search and from the Tools menu, click Folder Options. Then choose the View tab. You need to hit Show hidden files and folders, click to clear the ‘Hide extensions for known file types’ and also hit to clear the 'Hide protected operating system files’and check box. Then click ‘Yes’ to confirm and then click OK. Under ‘What do you want to search for?’, hit on All files and folders. In the ‘All or part of the file name box’, you need to type *.pst. In the Look in list, hit on Local Hard Drives (C:), and then hit Search. You need to note the path to the .pst file that you need to repair. By default, you have to name this file Outlook.pst. Then hit Start and click Run and then type pathpst2gb.exe -s, and next hit OK. Then hit Continue, and then hit Browse and select the .pst file that you have to repair, and next hit Open. By default, this file is named Outlook.pst. Then click Create and type a new unique file name for the .pst file such as Outlook-2 in the File name box, and next click Save. In the Oversized PST Recovery Tool dialog box hit on Start. After running the tool, you need to click OK, and then hit Close.
Run the Inbox Repair Tool
First of all hit Start, and then hit Search. Under 'What do you want to search for?', you need to hit All files and folders. On the All or part of the file name box, type scanpst.exe. and in the Look in list, hit Local Hard Drives (C:), and then hit Search. In the list of found files, you need to double-click the Scanpst.exe file. Then hit Browse, and after that open the folder that comprises the new .pst file that you produced by using the '2 GB Truncation' tool. Then hit the new .pst file that you created, and then hit Open. Then in the Inbox Repair Tool dialog box that appears, you need to hit Start. After the file has been scanned, you need to hit Repair to repair the errors in the file. As you obtain the 'Repair complete' message, hit OK. Then restart the system.
First, start Microsoft Outlook. Then on the File menu, select Open, and then hit Personal Folders File (.pst). You need to open the folder that comprises the new .pst file that you generated and repaired. You need to hit the new .pst file, and then hit OK. Next you need to copy the data from each folder in Recovered Personal Folders to the 'Outlook Today - (Personal Folders)' folders.
