Windows® Mail Configuration
Know about the solutions for various issues that can occur during Windows Mail configuration?
Windows Mail has the tools that allow the user to exchange e-mail with colleagues and friends. It also allows joining newsgroups to trade ideas and information. The user can set up regular IMAP or POP3 e-mail accounts. Windows Mail has all the functionality like Microsoft Outlook Express, spam fighting and junk mail filtering. This allows the user to save the messages in the server which can be used for future reference. The user can configure the functionality to delete unwanted e-mails from the mail box while exiting the program. The configuration can be set up to delete the mail after a particular period of time, say one month, two months or more.
Following details would give users more information on the issues that can occur in Windows Mail configuration:
- Send/receive mail not possible
- Attachment download issue
- Duplicate sub-folders
- Message rules not working
Send/receive mail not possible
This is a common problem which almost all the users face frequently. The user is not able to send or receive mails even when the connectivity is fine. This mainly happens when the storage capacity of server is over burdened or when the inbox is full. Make sure to delete unwanted mails frequently to increase the storage space for smooth functioning.
Attachment download issue
This problem prevents the user from downloading or opening any attachments that comes up with e-mail. When the user tries to download, the message comes that the Windows Mail has blocked an attachment. Make sure that it is not a virus document, since by default, the download of virus affected file is prevented from opening. If still the user needs access to the documents, the settings have to be changed under Security tab.
The sub-folders appear to be duplicated when Windows Mail® is set up to save sent, draft, deleted and junk messages to the IMAP server. The user may find sub-folders within the created sub-folders. They can fix it by right clicking the IMAP account and selecting the reset list. This process has to be repeated if there are multiple duplicate folders.
The user may face the issue that the message rules in the Windows Mail® are not working. These message rules are the instructions to divert different mail messages to various folders when they come into the inbox or even to delete it after a certain period of time. To solve this, the user has to set up the configuration under MIT since IMAP configuration does not support Windows Mail®.
