What is the method to set-up and import an e-mail account in Windows Mail?
Windows Mail is a commonly used default e-mail application, which is shipped with the Windows Vista Operating System. This is successor to Microsoft Outlook Express. Set up e-mail account
Firstly, open Windows Mail. Then, click Tools and open Accounts window and click Add. You would then select to create an e-mail account, click Next. Then, type the name which you want to label for your outgoing mails and need to click Next. Then, you need to type e-mail address. In the next step, you have to choose the type of incoming server for your e-mail. You need to the type name of incoming and outgoing servers, and click Next. Then, you need to enter the login details like username and the password. Then, click Next and after verifying all the data, you would click Create.
Save file from Windows Mail
You would firstly open Windows Mail. Then, you need to select Tools and from that, take Accounts. Highlight the desired account from there. Then, click Export and click Save. This is to export settings to .iaf file. This is named after account in the Documents folder. If you need to transfer the settings to other computer, choose the network drive or any other portable media. Then, close Windows Mail.
Firstly, open Windows Live Mail. From that, select Tools and from that, choose 'Accounts'. Then, hold down the 'Alt' key in order to see the menu there and click Import. You need to highlight .iaf file which you have saved. Then, click Open and after that, click Close. Select File and from that, click Import. Then, click 'Messages' from that menu. Make sure that Windows Mail is being selected there. You would click 'Next' twice. You would then browse the folder below the 'Select folders'. Finally, click 'Next' and would click 'Finish'.
