Windows® Mail For Windows® Vista
What are the problems associated with Windows Mail on Windows Vista based PC?
Windows Mail is a commonly used default e-mail application that is being found with the Windows Operating System. Microsoft Outlook Express has been replaced by this Windows Mail that was used in the earlier versions of Windows Vista. This could be used for retrieving, managing and composing e-mail messages which are connected to e-mail account. That e-mail account would use the protocols like IMAP and POP. You would be able to use the Windows Mail for famous e-mail services like Hotmail, Gmail, AOL etc. There might be many issues with this application. You need to provide updates for Windows Mail, at the right time. This would solve many issues with that. You have to keep the system free from all types of virus threats which would harm the operation of Windows Mail sometimes.
Below given points are various tips to solve issues with Windows Mail in Windows Vista:
- Solve send and receive issues
- Solve search issues
- Solve message viewing problems
Solve send and receive issues
If there are issues with sending and receiving e-mails due to issues with the account set-up. You need to have password, user name and the server name for the e-mail account. Some accounts would require custom port set-up and also the authentication. In order to check that, firstly, click Tools, then Accounts. You need to open the configuration for the account. You have to make sure that username, password and servers in incoming and outgoing are being rightly set up. If secure connection is needed to communicate with the servers, make sure that you have checked the box to use secure connection while sending and downloading.
Solve search issues
In Windows Mail, you can search the message contents from both sent and received mails. But sometimes, when you repeat the search, Windows Mail would fail to list those messages which you put for search. In such conditions, you have to rebuild the search index of Windows Vista or you try to restore the search function of the Windows Mail. In order to rebuild the Index, you have to take Control Panel firstly and then would type Index in Search box. You would then select Indexing Options and you would choose local disk C: from indexed locations. Then, you need to click 'Advanced' and would choose 'Rebuild'. You would click 'OK' and return to Windows Mail. To restart the search service, choose 'Administrative Tools' and need to double click 'Services'. From that, scroll to 'Windows Search'. Right click that and click 'Stop'. After waiting for sometime, right click and select 'Start'. This would restart Windows Search.
Sometimes, the images or the links present in the mail could not be displayed. This is because Windows Mail is blocking the e-mail content from unknown e-mail addresses. This is to protect the system from the virus threats and all. If you need to view those message contents, you would click the option called 'Unblock' present in the top of e-mail message on the Information Bar.
