Sent Items missing in Windows® Mail
Windows Mail you may find issues related to the missing of the sent items. It is caused mainly due to the size. There is a limit for the sent items box which if exceeds the limit may cause the mails to miss. Sometimes you will find that the mails that you want to send are completely sent to the specified address but the sent items are not going into the sent items box and going to some other location. Some messages in the sent items remain for a time being and suddenly vanish and you are unable to find them out. When the number of items in the sent mail box crosses a critical limit, you may find that the older ones are missing which is cause due to the limit of items. If there are large attachments like about 3.8 MB and above then you will find that the mails are properly sent to the address specified but you won’t find them in the sent items box. The antivirus software that is installed in your computer can also cause the problem because of which the sent items are missing in Windows Mail.

Create Sent Mail Backup
There is a limit in the number of mails in the sent mail box and when the limit crosses you will find that the older sent items are no longer remaining so its better that you should create a sent mail backup or create new folders and move the sent mails into the new folder so that all the sent mail box does not exceed its size limit.
Store Sent Items on the IMAP Server
You need to tell Windows to store the sent items on the IMAP server as the sent items are going missing. In Windows Mail click on the Tools menu click on Accounts option then select your IMAP account from the list of accounts. Click properties and then on IMAP tab and type inbox in the root folder path box. Select to store special folders on IMAP server and change the name to match with the actually used one and then save your changes.
Check to Show Messages Option
If the settings are not correct, you need to check out for which click on Tools, then Options and then send. Click on the box before save copy of all the sent messages present in the 'Sent Items' folder either once or twice, which ever leaves a check-mark there and then click on Apply, then ok. Click on the Sent items and then click View, then choose the Current View status, then Show All Messages, as these settings are usually done only for one folder.
