Set up an e-mail account

Firstly, go to the ‘Start’ button of the operating system and click ‘All Programs’. Then you need to click ‘Windows Mail’ and open the ‘Tools’ menu. Now you need to select ‘Accounts’ from the Tools menu. Click ‘Add’ and choose the type of account you would like to create. Select ‘E-mail Account’ and then click ‘Next’. Enter your name for the e-mail address with a valid domain name, accordingly. Select the incoming e-mail server type say, POP3 and outgoing e-mail server as SMTP.

Configure an e-mail account

After setting up an e-mail account with valid username and password, select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Internet Account’ screen. Enter 465 for SMTP outgoing e-mail server and 995 for POP3 incoming e-mail server in its ‘Advanced’ tab. Check the SSL option for both POP3 and SMTP e-mail servers. Select the server timeouts to be in 1 minute. Then, close the ‘Internet Account’ screen and click Send/Receive option to send and receive e-mail messages.

Tips to keep in mind

Check that you enter a valid username and password while creating an e-mail account. Select the options of incoming e-mail server say, POP3, IMAP accordingly. You have to include the incoming mail server name and outgoing e-mail server name correctly while setting up the e-mail servers. You also have to enter the server port numbers of POP3 and SMTP.
